The Pearl

The outline: The Pearl Essay Outline

The Pearl Essay

Interesting characters often make the story better. In “The Pearl,” a novel about a family living a poor life until they found the Pearl of the World, there is a very interesting character that might catch your eye. Her name is Juana; she is one of the major characters in the novel. Throughout the story, she is seen as a perfect model of a mother and a woman. She is loyal, obedient, and fierce and determined when it comes to her family.

In the novel, her character is portrayed as what a proper woman should be like. “She knew there was a murder in him, and it was all right; she had accepted it, and she would not resist or even protest.” That example from the story shows just how much loyal she is to her husband even though she was hurt because of him, it was because she knows her place as a wife and a woman. Also, as a woman, she wouldn’t protest of being protected, because as a woman, a man should protect her all the time, this is also shown in the story. “And she nodded and smiled a little at him, for she knew these things.”

One of her character that makes her interesting is that she is a traditional woman, she believes in Gods and knows some valuable things. “Under her breath Juana repeated an ancient magic to guard against such evil, and on top of that she muttered a Hail Mary between clenched teeth.” This proves just how much Juana believes in Gods, that she even kept repeating those chants when her son is in danger. Also, she knows some of old knowledges such as treating someone when is wounded. “She gathered some brown seaweed and made a flat damp poultice of it, and this she applied to the baby’s swollen shoulder.”

Throughout the novel, Juana has a very strong mind. At first she was taken by the Pearl, however she immediately realized that the pearl is evil and threat. She is really fierce when it comes to her family, because in the novel, she even tried to throw the Pearl since she realized that it was dangerous, it also means that she forgot her place as a woman, just for her family. In the end of the story, so many horrible things have happened to her, even her son died. It is still shocking that she remained sane after all that, however this also proves that she is determined to eliminate all the obstacle for her family.

Throughout the series, Juana has been like a caring lioness. She will do anything for her family and eliminate the dangerous things. While doing so, she cares for her family deeply. She is as strong as a lioness. She is a model of what a woman and mother should be.

The Season of Love

The season of love,

Where the pink flakes rains;

The season where a new red thread is made.

The season of love,

The season where her cheeks blushes red like the roses,

As she stared over the dancing flowers.

The season of love,

The season where the flower buds smile,

In a colourful flower field.

The season where the new red thread is made;

Where the pink flakes rains,

The season of love.

Character Sketch of Ichabod Crane from the Story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”

Ichabod Crane is the protagonist in “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” but is not one of those typical kind of a heroic protagonists that you see on T.V shows. He resembles more of a bad guy because he’s greedy and doesn’t look the way a hero should. Throughout the story he was often describe to be quite tall man and awkward looking. “He was tall, but exceedingly lank, with narrow shoulders, long arms and legs, hands that dangled a mile out of his sleeves, feet that might have served for shovels, and his whole frame most loosely hung together. His head was small, and flat at top, with huge ears, large green glassy eyes, and a long snipe nose.” According to the story, a person that saw him said that he looked like some goofy scarecrow who eloped from a corn-field. He’s so thin so he likes to eat a lot. He is a schoolteacher that doesn’t make enough money, thus, the housewives feed him every night by flattering them or by using his authority as their child’s teacher. He’s also a superstitious person since he always listen happily to the housewives’ supernatural tales. It was clear in the story when the person speaking said “When school hours were over, he was even the companion and playmate of the larger boys; and on holiday afternoons would convoy some of the smaller ones home, who happened to have pretty sisters, or good housewives for mothers, noted for the comforts of the cupboard. Indeed, it behooved him to keep on good terms with his pupils. The revenue arising from his school was small, and would have been scarcely sufficient to furnish him with daily bread, for he was a huge feeder, and, though lank, had the dilating powers of an anaconda.” He goes into farms to help the farmers. According to the story, a person that saw him said that he looked like some goofy scarecrow who eloped from a corn-field.

Social Media & Common Sense Response

Should there be a guide on how to use social media responsibly, or is common sense simply good enough?

              There should be a guide to teach people on how to use social media responsibly. You should know that lately, there are many malicious and nasty videos and pictures that are spread in the social media because of irresponsible use of the internet. We should know better that many people can see whatever we post. Many people must at least know that. If this goes on, probably around 30-60% of people will become social media addicts. We should improve our social life not our social media life. Not only it could affect your lifestyle, it could also affect our lives, like cyber bullying. We should know that many was already affected by cyber bullying and did suicide. “Think before you click.” So therefore, this is why there should be a guide on how to use social media responsibly.

Summarizing “Keesh”

The Story of Keesh

Jack London is the author of this story. The story tell us about a wise boy who followed the steps of his brave father who, unfortunately, had died. That because of his motivation, he rose from the poorest to the top. The story’s beginning is about a 13 year-old boy who spoke up at the council one time that he and his mother is not getting much food. The hunters pushed him away until one morning, he tried to prove himself, so he killed a bear and shared it to everyone. Every time he goes to venture, he always comes back with a bear for everyone to eat. And, of course, due to the hunters’ pride and jealousy, the chief had his two hunters to follow him and when they came back and tell the others of what they seen, they immediately came to Keesh’s igloo thinking he was using magic. Keesh had his method of killing explained. And now, he rose to the highest position in the village which is the ending.

The story’s main point is that, sometimes we need to speak up and be brave, use our minds not violence. It was successful in delivering that to the readers. Not much was conveyed in the heart of the main character, I can say that because “not much” is revealed by the main character.
