Interest in Science

I am interested in competitive style trampoline, and have been training for 2.5 years.

Trampolining ties into Science because of Newton’s basic laws of motion. Newton’s 3rd law states: “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.” Trampolines get bounce from springs, and springs work by being stretched. The action of you bending your knees and pushing into the trampoline is what stretches the springs. That downward force is the action and the upward motion of you jumping off the trampoline bed is the opposite reaction.

Newton’s 1st law states: “An object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion stays in motion.” So once you’ve started jumping on the trampoline, you will continue to bounce until you lose momentum or stop yourself.

Newton’s 2nd law states: “The acceleration of an object depends on its mass.” This means it requires more force as an adult to jump on the trampoline, than it does as a child.
