Sam The Athlete

Sam’s Skirt

Would you ever pretend to be someone else just to play on a sports team? In the short story Sam the Athlete by Stuart McLean, Sam should be able to wear his skirt regardless of the fact that he’s a boy. The skirt made Sam like he fit in on his team. He told his dad “I love it.” Although Sam could be putting himself at risk of bullying, he could also be setting an example for others to show that they can be whoever they want to be. Sam should be comfortable as himself, even if it isn’t what people are used to. “His future might be brighter than he had thought” and it definitely looked that way when he was accepted by his parents and teammates.
