For this essay I originally had different sources but a few days before it was due I decided to delete all my work and start a gain with different sources, I am proud that I was able to write a solid essay with less time than everybody else had. I would definitely improve my work by making sure I triple check my work for any typos or mistakes as well as make sure my citations are more well done. I would like to improve the way I transition between topics and paragraphs so that my essay’s flow better.

Totem
I think at first Canadian settlers weren’t accepting of the First Nations in Canada and tried to assimilate them. Because of this many First Nations became ashamed of their identity and hid their culture from the rest of the world. Nowadays First Nations culture is more celebrated by Canadians and First Nations are more confident with their identity. Some First Nations people still feel the ‘burden’ of being native but this isn’t the case for all First Nations. Many First Nations peoples are now identifying with their native roots more recently, this also means that more Canadians are more accepting of First Nations culture and now include FN culture in Canadian identity
Society’s Corruption
I’m proud of the mark that I got on this essay, I honestly wasnt expecting a very high mark or to be told that it was good so when i found out what I got I was really happy. I would like to improve on having a more clear and straightforward thesis statement and introduction in general. I would also like to improve on my transitions between different paragraphs because I think that will make my writing flow more and make more sense all together.
Fear
I felt fear at the Parthenon in Athens, Greece when I went there this past summer. Not because I’m scared of the spirits that could be lurking there but because I’m intimidated by it. It was completed in 432 BC which is incredible that it is still standing here today but that is exactly what scares me. All around Greece you can find historical sights and artifacts from over 2000 years back. This scares me because I don’t think that our generation will ever have anything still standing 2000+ years from now that will show who we were. When I went to Greece I didn’t suddenly know everyone who lived there in the past but I was able to see how incredible their people were and I fear that we won’t make an impact like that in our world. The Greeks have managed to make such a lasting impression in our society and I fear that all that will be remembered from our time will be the bad things that are happening currently in North America. I fear that we will never be able to make an impression on this earth and our whole society will be forgotten.
How do stereotypes affect people?
The movie The Help, directed by Tate Taylor, features a girl named Skeeter who aspires to be a writer. Skeeter decides to interview the black women in her town who have spent their whole lives caring for the white families in their community. She talks to the women about how they are treated not only as the help but also as members of the black community in a Caucasian heavy town. She learns how the women are affected by the stereotyping of their race such as having to use a separate bathroom because they are “dirty”. Skeeter then makes a book of her interviews and shows the people in the town and around the world that you shouldn’t stereotype people without understanding them first. The white people in the town also stereotyped a girl named Celia Foote who was stereotyped as being “white trash” because she came from Sugarditch. The white women assumed she was cheap and less classy just because of where she grew up. This made Ceclia feel as if she wasn’t good enough and she was ashamed of who she is. Humans have a great ability to be understanding of others but they also are very capable of stereotyping others just because they do not know them. This movie shows that stereotypes can make people feel ashamed for being who they are but with the help of community and friends you can overcome these stereotypes.
