Digital Footprint
- How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least two examples.
Your digital footprint can expose information that might not be appropriate for school or work. This could impact your reputation or self-image, making it difficult to find a job in the future. Your digital footprint could also affect future opportunities if your employer saw an unprofessional or irresponsible side of you. This could impact what they think of you or even make you lose your job. Keeping your digital footprint appropriate can make life easier for the future.
- Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.
It is essential to make sure what you put online is appropriate. Some strategies you can use to keep your digital footprint safe are:
1) Being aware of what you post online; this can include comments, posts, what posts you interact with or even who you follow.
2) Double-checking privacy settings and making sure your private information is safe.
3) Searching your name on multiple websites to see if your digital footprint is appropriate. Can the information you find impact your reputation negatively?
- What information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them?
Some information I learned that I think other students should know is to be aware that when your using school internet or any public internet, because it is possible that people can see what your doing online or even access private information. I would tell them by saying to be careful what networks you’re using and to make sure what you’re doing online is appropriate and safe because you might not be the only one seeing what you do online.
