February 10th
This week I worked on the cover of my altered book, two of the eyes I made were the wrong colour so I had to redo them, but otherwise it has turned out very well.
February 17th
This week I had started by gluing pages together to make the first section. I then figured out a blackout poem and painted both sides of the pages black minus the poem. However, I found I didn’t really know how to continue my current idea for the project, so I did some research and decided I wanted to focus on a moon theme instead. I carefully pulled out the eyes and separated the cover from the pages again so that I could apply a new cover later. In preparation for the new written poem to go on the page, I also painted over the blackout poem.
February 23rd
This week I finally finalized my ideas for what my book will be about. The book will be reversible having two starts, the sun and the moon. It will be about the necessity of both and having balance in your life. It will also explore how when people pick one to focus on, they will often demonize the other. I wrote the new poem to go on the moon side’s first pages as well as carved out the sun’s cut and started preparing the pages for the sun’s poem.
March 10th
This week I switched projects due to a lack of inspiration and motivation for the previous one. I will now be making a large piece utilizing collage, cotton, foam, and other materials and techniques. This past week I got started by sketching out the piece on the canvas and cutting up the magazines for the colours I need.
April 24th
The past weeks I worked on designing and cutting out the stencil for my spray paint project. I also came up with the concept for my new main project that is currently unnamed.
June 1st
The past weeks I worked on two things. The first thing was a character design contest submission. I created a character that would be in the world from the game Rain World. The second thing is the beginnings of my progress piece of which I will be working on for the rest of the year. Currently it is only using cut outs of magazines but I am adding flowers which are currently being pressed onto the piece, and later I will be painting clouds into the sky.
June 8th
The past week I glued down the pressed flowers to the canvas as well as used water colour to paint clouds and a sun that will be glued onto it later. The sun also has ribbons glued onto it that will be left to move freely on the canvas instead of being glued down.
June 16th
The past week I finished my progress piece. I decided against the ribbons on the sun so I glued it down without them. I then cut out and added nearly identical eyes and created tears with golden drops using hot glue and yellow glass shards, and then once dry coated the hot glue in gold iridescent dust to give it more of a golden look, and finally cut out letters to write out some words inspired by weirdcore and traumacore pieces.
