The photo and colouring the graph were based on:

I used my past graphing function knowledge, the math workbook, and the review of functions worksheet to figure out which equations were needed. Notably, I found it beneficial to list all the functions required and equations beforehand as it ensured I met the criteria and kept my work organized. One of my challenges was colouring in the ellipses since I couldn’t use two functions and an inequality. Although I discovered that by making the ellipse less than y it shaded the inside, I had to adjust the transformation to match the colouring and the original function line. Another challenge I encountered was creating Binoo’s arm since it had several curves that didn’t fit with transformed functions. I used a sideways parabola to help me achieve the correct lines for the image, which then caused a problem with the colouring of it. However, through problem-solving, I realized that I could create invisible functions to shade in between the lines, thus using fewer numeral restrictions. Whenever I got stuck and couldn’t find a solution, I would ask classmates to assist me or watch YouTube videos with step-by-step tutorials. A strategy that I used was creating a note with my original function equations and using that rather than constantly going back to the folder. Also, I remembered the advice of placing the shading you want visible near the end of the folder; so it overlaps the others before it. My “aha” moment was when I learned to use inequalities to shade in between functions because before then, I was purely using one function and then various x and y restrictions. Overall, this assignment helped me better understand transformations of functions and relations as I was constantly graphing transformations to either move or reflect the function. The repetitive action helped to visualize the transformations, especially concerning expansions and compressions and the various ways a function can be graphed.
