Math 10 – Week 13

This week in math we started a new unit and we learned a lot about relation and function and how to tell them apart. When we were working on a worksheet there was one question that confused a bunch of people. When looking for a relation or a function you are looking to see if any of the dots or part on the lines (since they are made up of small dots) over lap or are on top of each other. This diagram had two dots overlapping but one of them was filled in and the other wasn’t, this is something that is important to look for. When a dot is filled in it means that the dot is included, if the dot insn’t filled in it means that its not included. This means that this was actually a function since nothing was overlapping but if they were then it would be a relation. Function = no overlapping Relation = overlapping. This part  of the unit is a pretty simple concept you just need to make sure that you look closely to figure out if it is a function or a relation.
