Math 10 – Week 4

This week in math 10 I learned about Rational Exponents. We learned how to change a fraction exponent into a root number, the main thing to remember when converting between the two is that the root is always the bottom. This means that if you have an exponent that looks like 3/5 with a base of X, you then would turn it into 5th root X with a power of 3 and if yo are converting it back as long as you remember the same thing that the root is the base its quite easy. When dealing with a negative depending where it is it will go in different places. If you have a negative base then the sign will go on the outside of the root symbol but if it is placed in the fractional exponent then it will be places on the exponent is the root, so with the example I used above it would be placed on the 3 to make it 5th root X with a power of -3.
