To my grade 11 self

When you are given a project make sure that you start working on it as soon as it is given so they you can put more effort into it to get a higher mark. Make sure that you participate in class more and don’t be afraid to get things wrong. You need to work on using more complex words in essays and stop repeating the same words over and over again.  Make sure that you put in hard work all semester so that you can get a good grade.

Much a do about nothing Reflection

From our Bard on the Beach workshop i have learned more about the language of Shakespeare. I have learned about the uses of Thee and Thou and they both are the equivalent to you but for different contexts. I liked doing the tableau’s to help learn about the play. I think the tableau’s helped me learn more than doing the acting. I also liked the insult battle because it relates to our society and it was also pretty funny making up words.

“The Watch”

How do we recover from tragedy?

In the short story “The Watch” by Elie Wiesel, the author finds a way to recover from the tragedy of the Holocaust. He starts imagining Jewish practices; “I thought I heard the chanting of school boys studying Talmud”(pg3) giving him the thought that its not gone, that the Jewish religion has survived the Holocaust and will still continue on in history. He wants to forget about his experiences; “I tell myself that probably I simply wanted to leave behind me, underneath the silent soil.”(pg3). The author has started to recover from such a horrible experience by putting it behind him and burying his feelings so he can start new.

Morgan Creek Keg Serves Up Great Food And Dishes Out Memories That Will Last a Life Time

Image result for keg morgan creek

There are many Keg restaurants out there but my favourite has to be the Morgan Creek Keg. From the moment you walk in the two front doors you are greeted by the cheerful hostess as they take you to your table. The dim lit lounge is my preferred seating area also being much quieter than the bar. The attentive waiters are always stopping by to make sure you’re having an enjoyable experience. They let you settle in then your joyful server approaches your table for your drink orders. Appetizers are some of the Keg’s best options from the menu. My family will usually order the calamari which has a nice crunch and is cooked to perfection with a tzatziki sauce. My favourite sauce to go with the calamari is the sweet chili sauce that has a bit of kick and a savoury sweetness that compliments the calamari very well.  You will always be served warm bread fresh out of the oven and butter. A little secret my Dad knows is that you order a side of 3 cheese garlic butter which has to be one of the best things that they offer. It has a great mix of flavours that sets off all your taste buds. Now it wont be long until the main course is on your table and when it comes out it silences the table as everyone is so excited to take that first bite of their meal. Depending on when in the year we go my choice of entrée will change. If we go in the summer, I’ll go for the steak and half lobster which is a lot but it’s the best of both worlds. The steak is juicy cooked medium rare, not too chewy but not crunchy. The lobster is so succulent and has that little bit of crunch to it and it goes so well with the melted garlic butter that makes the lobster just melt in your mouth. I’ll always go for the twice baked potato as my side it has a great mix of meat and vegetables mixed into the potato. At the Morgan Creek Keg the old chef used to make his twice baked potatoes differently than the way they are supposed to make them and I couldn’t tell what it was but it was just so much better than any other Keg. The reason why I say “it was” is because the head Chef passed away too early. He was one of my Dad’s customers turned friend and his reason of death was unknown. All the doctors know is that he was in a fire when he was a kid but they did multiple tests on him and couldn’t find the reason for sickness. It might be a bit pricey to some people but I believe the price reflects perfectly on the taste and it is definitely worth a visit. From the moment you walk in to the minute you walk out the Morgan Creek Keg will always leave you with a smile on your face.
