May Reflection – Fried Rice

May Reflection – Fried Rice

I chose this lab because fried rice is a meal that I love to eat but until now I had no idea how it was made or what was used to make it. This was a good lab in the fact that it was easy to make and it also tasted good. I liked how there was the ingredients that were soft and chewy like the rice and egg but then there was also the celery that gave the fried rice a nice crunch. Our product turned out just like we wanted it to and I don’t think we could’ve made it any better; unless we had a bigger recipe so we could have all eaten more. If I were to change one thing about this recipe it would be that we would have added some sort of meat because everything is better with meat; or also make it all bigger. Our group worked well on this lab and I think the only issue we had was the dish washing because of the ingredients stuck to the bottom of the wok. I ended up having to scrub it which was quite difficult.

Salad Rolls

Salad Rolls

I did not enjoy this lab for many reasons but the main reason was the taste. I don’t know what it was about the salad roll that tasted so bad but from the second I bit into it until late that night after brushing my teeth to try and get rid of the taste it was still there. Not only the taste was bad but there was this burning feeling in my stomach that whole night. To make this recipe better I think we should just eliminate the shrimp and the rice wrap that we used to keep it all together because thy were the two things that made it taste so bad. What I am saying is we should just get rid of the roll part and make a salad instead would be a lot better. Deep frying food increases the bad fats in the food. These bad fats are called saturated fat and trans fat and when you consume too much it can lead to high cholesterol and higher chance of type 2 diabetes.

What’s in my junk – McChicken

I like the McChicken because the sauce and the McChicken go really well together ; its a good portion size for if i want a snack or if i am hungry two of them will fill me up ; i can always mix and match burgers with it because the McChicken doesn’t have a weird after taste that will make other food taste bad.

The McChicken has a high fat amount with 27g and has 650mg of sodium which are both 1/4 of the daily recommended value.

The Chicken in the McChicken is fried and not grilled so it is not as healthy as it could be.
