“The hungry caterpillar” is a book written by Eric Carle that was published on June 3^rd, 1969. This book starts off with a small caterpillar who had just emerged from its egg. After this caterpillar had left its egg, it had become very hungry, so it had decided to eat everything in its path. Some of the various foods this caterpillar had eaten were things like apples, pears, cheese, cake, strawberries, lollipops, pickles etc. After this caterpillar had eaten so much food it became very fat and not so hungry anymore. Afterwards the now fat caterpillar started to form a cocoon around himself and later he emerged from his cocoon as a beautiful butterfly. I think the book cover is suitable for the story however I feel like it could have been improved a little bit. I understand it’s a children’s book, but I feel like they could’ve added something else to the cover of the story to show a little more representation of the story. I feel like they could have shown the caterpillar either eating a food or if they added some type of food bitten into by the caterpillar. I say this because the title is “the very hungry caterpillar” yet it just shows the caterpillar on the cover. Maybe the author could have added something to show he was hungry. This is just my opinion otherwise I love the story.

This is my reimagined cover of “The Hungry Caterpillar” published in 1969 by Eric Carle. I feel like the book cover I had made for The hungry Caterpillar would suit the book better today. I feel like this would suit the book better because it is more cartoony and more appealing to younger children. Not only does it look more appealing but because I feel like the cover has a more representation of the plot of the story. The cover is a caterpillar that is sitting on top of a leaf that shows a few bite marks on it to show the caterpillar was hungry and started to eat it. I also feel like that the new cover has more vibrant colour’s that would appeal to smaller children. The caterpillar is more cuter looking so kids may want to read it because of the colours/more appealing images. I do feel like the original book cover was more suitable for when it was first published in 1969. The original cover would suit the 2000s – 2010s while the new book cover would suit 2011 – 2021. I feel like if some authors would want their book to still be popular and keep selling then maybe they should upgrade the book cover to make it more appealing so it would sell.
