1.2 Investigating Matter

Matter is everything around us. Matter are made of atoms and molecules. Matter is basically anything with a mass or anything that takes up space, meaning everything is a matter. We need to understand that all matter start from one state. The thing with all matter starting out with one state, means that they can change states. The way I remember the changes of the states, and what they are called is by saying them in the beat of a one direction song. There are 6 changes of matter, Solid to liquid (Melting), liquid to solid (Freezing), liquid to gas (Vaporization), gas to liquid (Condensation), solid to gas (Sublimation), gas to solid (Deposition). This brings up to the kinetic molecular theory, the theory believes that all matter are made of particles, small ones may I add. They believe that energy makes the small particles move. The more amount of energy it has, determines what type of state it is. For example if the particles are together and can only vibrate which makes it a solid, but if the particles moved freely and moved quickly it will turn into a gas. Something I have learned about bag lab is how not only can matter change state, they can also change colour. Two chemicals were white, while one was blue which made me believe that the chemicals will turn light blue, but the chemicals made a chemical reaction which made the three chemicals together, turn yellow/orange. That is what I have learned on 1.2 investigating matter.
