Data Visualized

This is my post where I gathered lots of unreliable data that don’t go together with other data and put it together to make up one some pictures for you to understand what I want to show you.

What I mean by “unreliable data” is that the data I collected are from tons of different studies and statistics. the reason I say this data is “unreliable” is because I would have one study claiming that 46% of “gamers” are girls and then I would have another study about how there are almost 4x more girls not playing video games compared to boys. But thankfully I was able to figure out a way to incorporate all of this data in to ways that make sense and will give you a better understanding on the gaming community.

Just so you know :

When I say “real gamers” I mean that they play more than 5 hours of video games per week. This was the number that most of my gaming community agreed on. This requirement eliminates thoses who say they are gamers but claim they only play 2 hours a week. I do this because I believe that the term “gamer” need to be earned through commitment and continuation of gaming.

Debunking the myth :

Do more boys play video games then girls?

short answer: no

Long answer : well technically there are the same amount of male to female gamers with a slight favor in male gamers but if you look at the amount of hours played by each sex than you will see that males have double the amount of average hours played on video games per week. Meaning that even though the number of boy to girl gamers are similar boys outrank girls by playing twice as many hours as girls meaning that if 1000 boys and girls play this one game, if there is 200 girls playing right now it mean that there is 400 boys playing too meaning that really the ration of boy to girl gamers is 66% boys and 33% girls but then again the total number of gamers for both sexes are almost the same. Boys are just more actively playing games. Because of the more active playing this also means that in deeper games and more intense and more commitment a game is the higher number of boys will be found.

PER WEEK!!! :
