For this Assignment, we had to change a short story, Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr, into rather a New paper article, internet based article, screenplay or an game design document. For myself I choose the screenplay as I was interested in the story into a movie. The creation of the screenplay was very difficult with tough decisions needed to be made , from when and what were the slug lines to when was the best place to be the action. when it came to the slug line, I decided two things one was that the ballet theatre was shown inside and not just in the TV, and two was that the whole situation was at night. The action was best during where no dialogue was placed, while replacing important actions in parentheticals. One important question from my screenplay, was what were the difference between writing types. I believe that the original short story is descriptive, narrative, and potentially persuasive since the story is sending a message. My screenplay I believe is very similar, but less descriptive then the original. Finally, the most important part of this assignment is what I learned from this assignment. I believe that I learned, not only how to turn a short story into a screenplay, but how to write a bit more dramatically. In the end, I had a lot of fun with this assignment, and have grown more fond of screenplays.
