Connnections Based Learning Proposal

  1. We talked to Tim Mepham and his daughter Nicola in live in Nicola lodge. Tim unfortunately has huntingtins which affects his communication, movement and dexterity. Our Goal is for Tim to have a few things to help him surviving with huntingtins. I am interesting in using science and technology to help someone who needs it. When I was presenting I was scared of getting embarrassed because if my question but I was happy that Tim was a nice guy.
  2.  I am thinking on some ideas but I only two at the moment. I think of re-wiring a remote to have bigger buttons and be it on a usb so that Tim can easy connect to his TV. My main idea is making a pencil holder to put on a cap I only need to use a 3d printer. I think that I wouldn`t need much help.
  3.  I believe it maybe able to help draw or paint. A website called https://www.makersmakingchange.com/project/adapted-head-pointer/ had the same idea with 3D priting. The remote idea I think I would need to know how to wire a regular remote. Materials for my main idea would include a 3d printer and a cap to test it, for my remote idea I think that I would need a remote, a usb and basic wiring tools. The steps for my main idea would be to print the holder then to test it.IMG_97E200F0AC1B-1
  4.  I think so far that this the post is formatted in a way that it already the solution fluency. only learning the solution fluency on Monday this is a good way to start exploiting the solution fluency into my learning. This post would be a little better if I finished my project before making the post, it would just make me able to talk about my idea better.

hi max, i really enjoyed reading your post and loved how you put together the first paragraph and how you described the situation. however one thing you should improve on is adding more details to your idea and adding more pictures showing what your idea is. bye now.

This is a very informative write up. I think Tim mentioned that he has a firm grip so I don’t think there is a need for the cap, but I may be wrong. My question is if you are following through on building a simplified remote how would you learn how to do the wirings.

Thanks for your reflection on our connections-based learning with Tim. I am glad that you mentioned how you became more comfortable with the Skype chat as time went on. Yes, Tim is a great person and made it easy for us to connect with him. I love the research you did into what could be done to help him. You might consider responding to the comments on your post. I wish you the best on your adaptive technology innovation.
