Reflection:

I believe this project was more of a reminder and renewed my knowledge about the fact that the way we raise children and the way they are brought up, affects who they end up becoming. I have always been aware of the influence people have on young kids because I remember learning during my babysitting course, which intern affected and influenced who I am today. Completing this activity has been a realization of why I am who I am and understanding my family a lot more than I thought I could. I understand now how lucky I am to have been raised so well and gotten the opportunities I did. I believe that the decisions I make and my actions are reflected on my childhood and my experiences as a kid. I think, honestly who I am today, why I am so understanding of people and how kind I am is because of my parents and in result of the amount of time spent with my loving family who constantly taught me new things to be the best I could possibly be. Although I do believe I have changed myself in ways and other experiences have shaped who I am today, I believe that mainly who I have grown up to be is because of my family. This project was a great way to relate to children, to go back and think about who we were as kids and how influential we were and still are. We can use this newfound knowledge when we teach the children at Central and to remember what we say will truly affect them in one way or another and we must affect these children in the most positive way we possibly can. I think the best way to influence children is to stay positive and treat them with kindness and respect, as you would others, because they are very influential and take the things we say with them for the rest of their lives. Staying happy and surrounding them with a safe and comfortable feeling is necessary so they learn to be confident and not be afraid to be themselves.
