Tech Team 12

Tech Team Project

Briefly describe your new and improved idea, by incorporating ideas and/or feedback.

This project started in my grade 10 year; therefore, with each year the main idea stays, but the supporting enveloping ideas are “edited” to work better in the school/with our purpose. A couple things our group wants to focus on during this year would be the actually implementation of this wall by working through all the logistics. As through previous years we created a purpose and a “semi” criteria, now we wish to create an application, figure out a way to launch and advertise this idea, think about how to incorporate it into a school function to appreciate, and where to place this wall. The biggest part for this year would to be to branch out and as a school community or even as a Tech Team community to have people nitpick the little things so we don’t run into problems when it’s up and ready to go. Futuremore, as the original group members who started with this project will be graduating this year, the ability to inform and get the new group members up to speed and invested in this is a big goal because if this wall isn’t implemented this year, hopefully the next generation of the group is able to make it happen.

What problems might we run into?

A couple things that we might run into include small things like scheduling issues as most group members are terribly busy, the ability to get everyone together may be quite hard especially as we want to get this project up and rolling again. Also the actual criteria and application formation part may take a while as we need to put in a lot critical thinking so we can get all the little kinks out so that the launch of the actual wall would be smooth. The thought of how to acknowledge these people on the wall will be a question as we want to know how to commemorate them either with a plaque or something along those lines and then during which ceremony to actually have them come in to be inducted on this wall. In the end, time is the biggest issue as scheduling, the school year, and the projects progression all depends on that.

What skills do we need to complete this project? How can we attain these skills?

We need the ability to see where issues may arise and then instead of dwelling on them work to find a solution. This can be done through team reviews and working as a team in general to bounce ideas off one another which can find all these little loose ends. As well as, this can be done by including the Tech Team class to review our finalized work which can then be passed on to administration for a final look. All this is critical as we don’t want o be fixing problems when we are looking for applicants, judges, or even combing through the application. Finally, we will also need to branch out to different school outlets such as the Eddy, Social Media Team, things like this as we want to spread the word through these various outlets. Additionally by using the Creation Team  we can also have these students who are good at what they do to help create the visual look our team is striving for on this wall at the end.

Create a brief timeline of key things that need to happen to ensure successful completion of your project. What happens next?

Firstly, we need to decide as a team when to meet up and discuss the wall in detail with Mr. Gee so everyone is on the same page again after summer passed. Then we must go over and create the application, get it approved and have that ready as we have most of the criteria done as well. Going from there we would need to talk to administration on how this wall will look like and where this wall will go. After that we should talk to them as well about having a small proportion of an assembly or becoming apart of the academic banquet to showcase these individuals as they are placed on the wall. Finally, the actual creation of the wall and depending on what is chosen, either have a Creation Team come in to help us visualize our dreams or we can start off with something quite simple as a slideshow. This being said this all depends on time and so if we aren’t able to complete this for the end of the year, a goal of having the next generation of Wall of Excellence members finish it off for the next year would be great.
