My Cricut project was a set of notebooks made for my boyfriend’s next semester at university.
There were many challenging parts to this project. To start, I glanced over an online tutorial describing how to add designs/labels onto notebooks. The process involved ironing on vinyl, which turned out to be a very big mistake. As evident in the photo, some of the notebooks ended up with small white marks from being originally overheated. I had to scrap one of the notebooks because it was mostly ruined. In addition to this, my original designs involved small icons surrounding the subject names, but those ended up being too small to cut out accurately.
After some help, however, I figured out the process and which materials would work best. With the help of transfer paper and another spare block spent in the maker space, I was able to get all the subjects done, with just Programming lacking a notebook, which I realized was unnecessary anyway. Although two of them were left with marks, the Calculus and Algebra notebooks turned out flawless.
This process taught me a lot about the varieties in materials and processes. Having experience only with fabrics and iron-on vinyl, I faced a lot of challenges and frustration, but I have been left with bountiful new knowledge that I can apply if I decide to take on more projects. In addition to this, my resilience was tested and improved throughout the process.
