What You Have Done
- What are some things you have learned and/or tasks you have accomplished this quarter?
- This quarter has taught me a lot about public speaking and digital support. With my face being broadcasted to the entire school twice, leading to me getting recognized both inside and outside of school, I really had to get comfortable with putting myself out there.
- What are some things you have been involved with supporting the school? (Use videos, pictures, upload materials etc. as evidence of learning in your blog)
- This quarter, I was primarily focused in the Technology Month for Stream and the Grade 9 Digital Boot Camp. In STREAM, Simon and I created a video outlining our top ten tech team tech tips.

- Two weeks later, I presented the team’s best software picks to my STREAM class. Earlier in the year, I held a segment for the incoming Grade 9’s all about tech tips and tools that would make their first year at Riverside much smoother.
- In addition to this, I have been spending two blocks a week supporting students at the Wave.
- Finally, I have been busy running Rapid Event. From answering DMs to posting submissions, this has been a pretty busy job.
- What aspects of your work are successful? Explain why.
- All the presentations have gone wonderfully so far. Students have been (mostly) engaged, and I have gotten a positive response from people that have recognized me. Being at the Wave has beenĀ much more productive than prior years – it seems students are more comfortable coming down for help, and it has been a pleasure to provide it.
- What aspects of your work is challenging? Explain why.
- Running the school’s social media has been a bit strange, considering the lack of meetings the social media team has had this year. In addition, I have been all over the school, so balancing everything has been a challenge.
- What steps did you take to overcome these challenges / what adjustments did you need to make?
- As of now, I have been handling balancing everything I am involved with by scheduling. Staying organized has helped me tremendously with keeping on top of things.
- Is there anything you can do improve? (with your approach to the project, or altering the project)
- The social media team definitely needs to meet and discuss how we are going about posting the submissions. Without being notified that something has been added to the forms, it seems a lot of us are forgetting to check if anything needs to be posted. With so much going on around the school, it is important we are keeping students up to date.
- Aside from that, continuing to try and engage students with the projects the tech team runs, such as the pumpkin carving contest, is always helpful.
What Can We Do Better
As Riverside continues to immerse itself into innovation and technology, what do you think Riverside can do to provide support and help for teachers and students? (Provide specific examples)
-
- From what I have noticed, the Wave desk is often empty. I think it is important that, even with our busy schedules, we are making sure there is always someone there to offer support.
- In addition, teachers should be encouraged to participate and create a positive environment during STREAM so that the activities planned run smoothly.
Do you have any feedback or suggestions, as we move forward, that could help the Tech Team meet the needs of our school and staff / be more effective? (Provide specific examples)
-
- The Tech Team needs to get the social media team organized. I think assigning one person a weekday to check the submissions would be a tremendous positive change. Aside from that, it has been great seeing the school get so involved, and I have no other criticisms.
