The One-Time Soap Dispenser
A – Manual lever
Lever (simple machine #1) lifts ramp.
Mechanical (kinetic) energy transforms to potential gravitational energy when lever is lifted.
B – Incline
Radish rolls down incline (simple machine #2) and into slot.
Gravitational energy transforms to kinetic energy as radish rolls down.
C – Pulley
Radish activates pulley (simple machine #3).
Kinetic and energy of radish transforms to potential gravitational energy of hazelnut.
D – Incline 2
Base of hazelnut gets listed by the pulley and allows the hazelnut to roll down incline (simple machine #4).
Potential gravitational energy transforms to kinetic energy as hazelnut rolls.
E – Tea Kettle Button
Hazelnut hits edge of button, which beeps, and activates tea kettle.
Kinetic energy transforms to electric energy, some of which transforms to sound energy.
F – Steam and Incline 3
Steam rises and moves cardboard, allowing radish to roll down incline (simple machine #5).
Electric energy transforms to thermal energy, which transforms the gravitational energy of the radish to kinetic energy as it rolls.
G – Soap
Radish rolls down incline and hits the soap bottle, dispensing a bit of soap, before the elastic holding it lifts the bottle back up.
Kinetic energy transforms to elastic energy when soap bottle is pushed down and springs back up.
