examples:

a) (5x + 1) (x – 2)

we have to expand which comes to

5x^2 – 10x + 1x -2

now we add like terms

5x^2 – 9x – 2

b) x^2 – 100

we square root both numbers

√x^2 – √100

which equals too

(x – 10) (x – 10)
