math summery 2

adding and subtracting fractions:

I learned about adding and subtracting all fractions and how to convert between improper fractions to mixed fractions. I also learned about multiplying and dividing all fractions.

in order to add them make sure you have a common denominator

3/2+4/5

now times 2 and 5 by each other: 5×2=10

now you times 3 by 5 and 4 by 2: 3×5=15, 4×2=8

now add: 15/10+8/10 = 23/10

now make into mixed fraction:

23 goes into 10, 2 times and the remainder is 3: 2,3/10ths

math 9 summary

during my time in math 9 i have learnt about adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiply fractions, integers, and decimals. we also learnt about square roots and how to estimate imperfect squares. some examples of the work we learned is:

  1. √94= 9.7    94 is closer to 100 so the decimal point will be  closer to 10 than 9

10 x 10 = 100

9 x 9 = 81

2.   6/27 x 9/12 = 1/18

a) cross simplify:          b) times the new fractions            c) simplify if possible:

6 ÷ 6= 1   12 ÷ 6 = 2               1/9 x 1/2 = 1/18

27 ÷ 9 = 3   9 ÷ 9 = 1
