Forgiveness-Whirligig Intro Assignment

Unknown-4

The quote from Mark Twain symbolises the victim and bully – like in “Walking after Midnight” – and the good that comes out of forgiveness. The flower, the victim, the heel, the bully and the fragrance as the happiness and peace both people receive.

I believe that forgiveness helps us mend the broken ends of our life that have frayed because of situations where others have broken our trust or wronged us in any way. Practicing forgiveness is the essential to move forward in life. It brings us the peace we need to forget, in the saying, “Forgive and forget.” Letting go of the past wrongs and understanding what knowledge it brought you and taking that knowledge into everyday perspective is what helps us. Using this sort of formula is what makes forgiveness a gift for us to use if we would like. I choose to use this gift whenever because I realize that not only does it help me move forward and enjoy life in the moment but it sets an example for others. The difficulty in forgiving comes from our knowledge of another so called solution which is, “An eye for and eye,” revenge. Bringing justice for ourselves by hurting someone who hurt us. Its hard to forgive because we want that person to understand that what they did isn’t okay and shouldn’t ever be done again. Its hard to accept the fact that people make mistakes and hurt others unintentionally and even worse, intentionally and that in order to feel better we see fit that we should as well hurt them. Yet it is even harder to accept the fact that you might be wrong or that you hurt another. Showing you are sorry and demonstrating you understand that what you did is wrong can really help the other person to forgive you and see the change you’ve made in your life. The other person does not only forgive but may take a move onto restorative justice. Benefiting both you and the wronged, by fixing what you’ve wronged, teaching others how to benefit from what you’ve learned and feeling peace, for either end of forgiveness.

  1. Wow – that is an amazing quote by Mark Twain. Good insights – try writing without the use of the pronoun ‘you’ so much – it will make your writing stronger.
