new media 11 challenge reflection

Making connections

During English class, we are given a challenge called the new media 11 challenge, we are given a partner randomly, with the groups of 2-3. Then, we are allowed to spread to the whole school to start our conversation. My partner was Jade, who was sitting at the corner of the classroom. For me, as an international student, I didn’t know anyone of the students in the class; everything has become so unfamiliar. I am stressed out and feeling scared. I find it nerve-racking to talk to strangers. But then I still move on and accepted the challenge. After I met her, we both agreed to head to the library, finding an empty and quiet room for us two.

At a later time, we started to introduce ourselves and I started to get to know more about my partner. The thing that surprised me is that I am not the only one who feels nervous and scared about this project.  But then Jade stated that she has the same feeling too. Before this project, I think that most Canadians are outgoing and sociable, which is the opposite of me.

In the conversation, I learn that she is realistic, a girl with a simple and clear mind. She is a self-aware person. Loyalty is the thing she values the most in a friendship. She thinks finding the passion for doing something is the most important in life as well as health and family. She wishes to fix the poverty problem in order to make the world a better place. Moreover, the person she admires is Cher, who is an American singer and actress and she wants to have a conversation with her. The best gift she has received is her necklace which her father gave her, she doesn’t receive a bad gift ever, as she thinks that people who do give gifts are in good intention.

Through this challenge, I have learned that although we are different in many different aspects, we still have something that is common and we can have the same opinions sometimes, this shows that human stills connect if they share their own thoughts and views, digging in each’s others story is important instead of just looking the surface with the ‘single story’. Besides, we should also take a step forward to approach different people but not staying quiet to make connections.

math 10 week-14

This week, we have learned about slope. To find slope, we have the formula y(2)-y(1)/x(2)-x(1) from the coordinates of any 2 points on the line segment.

Other than just finding a slope, I also have learned how to define and find perpendicular line segments and parallel segments. For perpendicular segments, if two slopes multiple together, then we will get the answer -1. The slope of two-segment must be reversed in order to get the answer -1. for example one slope will be -2 and another slope will be 1/2( note that it must be one positive and one negative)

for two parallel slopes, their slope must be the same and they will never ever meet each other on the graph.

week 7 math-10 factoring

This week we have learned about factoring meaning changing a simplified polynomial into the primeval form, which means it had not done any expanding or simplified. To do this, there is some easy method and rules. First, the whole Polynomial should be positive, it cannot be factorized if it is a whole negative question. It also can’t be factorized if the constant term is negative. I have written an example below to explain it.

Week 4 – math 10 – angle of depression and evaluation

This week I have learned about the angle of depression and evaluation, the angle of depression form is when a person looking downwards, for example, a person is looking down from the plane to the island. the angle of evaluation forms when a person is looking up to the plane from the island. Both of the angles must be equal to each other in any situations, it also helps us a lot in trigonometry and in calculating bearings.

food 10 assignment

Most food we found in supermarket comes from packing in order to keep it fresh and clean. I usually like to eat snacks such as chips, candies, and chocolate. They all come from plastic or box for packing for example chips, which many people like to eat every day, its package is mostly made out of a plastic called oriented polypropylene, according to my research, experts say that this type package is very suitable for chips, as chips will become moisture if they get exposed to the air and attach to the water particles in the air. People like crispy chips will definitely hate it and got upset if they get soggy chips, therefore to further strengthen the material, many chip bags have a thin aluminum coating on the inside the layer of polyethylene (the stuff plastic grocery bags are made of) is sandwiched between this inner layer and the outer layer, which displays the brand and nutrition info. After this, they will inject some nitrogen gas because nitrogen doesn’t cause any chemical reactions that affect the flavor, and it will prevent chips from getting crush into smaller pieces and keeping the chips in good quality. then they will seal up the bag and sold it out. Some people argue that packaging keeps food fresh its a good material, but some think that it’s not environmentally friendly. In my opinion, I think it has both pros and cons. Food packaging mostly serves as protection for the food, so that the food won’t turn bad. It’s cons are more landfills will be created. Disposing food packaging reintroduces waste into the ecosystem, making it worse, For example, plastic is full of toxins that are either carcinogenic or affect the reproductive system. Once we have finished our food the packaging will be thrown to the waste bin or recycling bin. The waste will be stored in the ground for a hundred years in order for it to dissolve. consumers can stop using disposable plates, put packages that are recyclable into the recycling bin, start relying on reusable containers. We should stop polluting our Mother earth anymore and everyone should take action in order to make the world much better!!!
