This year we would like to spend more time preparing for events that need to be streamed. This would allow us to make things such as intermission slides and would ensure a successful, professional looking stream.
What problems might we run into?
We may run in to sound issues this semester when streaming. This problem mostly stems from the fact that we rely on the camera’s built in mic, which is not suitable for picking up the audio in large rooms such as the gym or theatre. Maintaining a solid connection in these rooms is also a problem. Nine times out of ten when we try to go off WiFi, there is not enough bandwidth as there are many other students using it at the same time.
What skills do we need to complete this project? How can we attain these skills?
General knowledge of cameras, streaming software (such as OBS), Photoshop (for intermission slides etc.), and networks are all skills that are extremely useful when streaming. These skills can be attained through a combination of self-research and trial and error.
Create a brief timeline of key things that need to happen to ensure successful completion of your project. What happens next?
First need to set up OBS on our laptop of choice. Then we need to set up the camera and other hardware with the software and test it for consistent connection, audio and video. We should also check the laptop we use for updates consistently so we don’t run in to any problems the day we stream.
