Week 5 in Math 10

This week we started our third unit, Measurement. We began on Monday by learning to use referents (parts of our body that we can use to estimate a length). This can include your hand, a finger, the width of your arm, a stride or a foot. On Tuesday and Wednesday we went over the Imperial and Metric System and how to use and convert between the two.  On Thursday we did measuring prisms and cylinders, this meant we have to know how to use formulas to find surface area and volume for each. On Friday we took a break from measurement to talk about convincing work. Convincing work is when you show as much as you know to show your understanding of what we are doing. Some good ways to show convincing work would be to write out formulas, draw a diagram, show all your steps and to generally explain your work and how you got your answer.
