Hypothesis:
- The pop can will move through static electricity without engaging it through physical contact
How will you test your hypothesis?
- We will test our hypothesis by rubbing an inflated balloon against a human hair to make static electricity
Observations:
- Joseph rubs balloon against his hair for at least 15 seconds
- Static electricity builds up on the balloon
- The balloon made the pop can move without physical contact
- The video
Conclusion:
- Hair and balloon are the best combination of materials to produce the most static electricity
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
What combinations worked the best? Why do you think they were effective?
- The best combination in my opinion is human hair and a plastic balloon because hair has a great tendency to lose electrons and a plastic balloon has a great tendency of gaining electrons when being rubbed together to create static electricity
What combinations were the least effective? Why do you think this is?
- Cotton and silk are least effective at producing static electricity because they have the least tendency to gain and lose electrons
I really like how you focused on what can gain and what can lose electrons. That is exactly what static electricity is all about. Great video embedded on your blog. What app did you use to embed this?
