Environmental Ethics in Pop Culture

This commercial is showing how important oceans are in providing us with oxygen.

Half of the amount of oxygen we breath in comes from our oceans.

The video is mimicking how we breath by the water level rising and falling.

This video makes me want to be more conservative of the amounts of water that I use, and also makes me want to treat the environment with respect.

It makes me want to be careful to reduce, reuse, and recycle to protect the water that we need to survive.

This video first makes me feel privileged to live in this beautiful world.

Later in the video, I feel ashamed about how humans are polluting and abusing the environment.

We are not only polluting the environment, but also harming and killing the wildlife.

These issues make want to object against the people responsible for the negative impacts on the environment.

This Toyota commercial makes me feel excited about the future of the automotive industry in North America.

I think that electric cars will be very beneficial for the environment of the future to come.

When it comes time for me to purchase a car, I am hoping that electric cars a lot more affordable than they are today.

  1. I’m curious, how did you come across these ads?
It looks like there’s a lot of conservationist thinking in the ads you found.
The first one is neat that it personifies the earth. If we truly saw the earth that way, we might treat it better.
The second one seemed like a collage of images. That generally doesn’t work for me but I’m glad it makes you want to preserve the beauty in nature.
The last one is neat too. While it looks like they’re promoting Priuses, other companies have already gotten to 0 emission cars while Priuses still use gas. What do you think about their statement of “the best way to have an impact on the environment is to have no impact at all.”? I think we should have an impact on the environment but they should be positive impacts, like reforestation or cleaning up water. We should strive to help nature flourish (care ethic).
