Week 4- Multiplication and Division of Radical

This week I learned about multiplication and division of radicals.

When multiplying radicals you simply “just do it”.

Example: 2\sqrt{10} x 5\sqrt4 = 10\sqrt{40}

Dividing radicals is similar to fractions in the ability to reduce, but you cannot leave a radical in the denominator.

To get rid of a radical in the denominator you have to use conjugates.

Example: \frac{2}{\sqrt4-\sqrt2}\frac{\sqrt4+\sqrt2}{\sqrt4+\sqrt2}\frac{2\sqrt4+2\sqrt2}{\sqrt16+\sqrt4}\frac{\sqrt4+\sqrt2}{6}
