“Taming of the Shrew” Stop Motion Induction Scene Project

The play “Taming of the Shrew” is written by William Shakespeare. Our group of three did a stop motion project on the induction of “Taming of the Shrew”. Jacob downloaded the app and took the pictures, while Ethan and Dima moved the set and set up the scenes. Our project was just the induction which is the introduction to the main play of “Taming of the Shrew”. The main play is called the inset, the inset is the a play within a play. In the induction of the play a drunk man is tricked into thinking he’s a lord, this leads to the inset. For the project we used an app called Stop Motion where we took lots of pictures while moving the characters which made a video. We also put audio into the video to explain what was going on. This differs from a stage performance because it’s not live and we can edit our video. It was difficult to keep the lighting the same and everything in the same position. We learned how to use the Stop Motion app and how to use Text to Speech to put audio into our video. Overall the project was good and we had fun making it and using the app.

Animal Farm Propaganda Poster

image

When looking at this propaganda poster, one would notice multiple propaganda techniques, like common enemy/ scapegoat. You can see this in the phrase “this is the enemy” which is above Mr. Jones. This puts the blame on Mr. Jones and shows the animals that he is evil and convinces them that he is the enemy. Another technique you would notice is card stacking. The poster shows the pig holding back Mr. Jones, it also says that if pigs do not get apples and milk, Jones will come back, like the pigs are the ones keeping Jones from coming back. This makes the pigs look like heroes that are keeping the farm safe, even though it was all the other animals that kicked Mr. Jones out in the first place. Another technique is glittering generality, this is displayed in the slogan “4 legs good, 2 legs bad” which is above the pig, this once again shows the animals that all humans are the enemy. The final technique you would see is Fear. Fear is displayed in the phrase “Jones will come back” this sets fear in the animals, because they fear Jones and his farmers coming back and taking away their freedom and mistreating them.
