Adapted from the poem by Martin Niemoller “First They Came for The Jews” in response to the poem “Danger of Silence”

First they came for people in poor places in Africa

and I did not speak up

because I am not a person in a poor place in Africa.

Then they cae for the black people in North America

and I did not speak up

because I am not a black person in North America

Then they came for the disabled people

and I did not speak up

because I am not a disabled person

Now when they will come for me

because I was too busy or to apathetic

to defend my sisters and brothers?
