Agar cubes :

Data sheet :

  1. The small cube had the most diffusion. The 1 cm cube was the one that maximized the diffusion
  2. It was the most effective at diffusion because it was completely diffused in the Sodium Hydroxid solution. The surface area and the volume are important factors into diffusion.
  3. Cells need to stay small because they need to be able to reviece and pass nutrients through quickly. The surface area to volume ratio is very important to be able to use nutrients fast for the cells life.
  4. The smallest cube is going to maximize diffusion because the surface area to volume ration is the smallest which allows the acid to enter the cube and pass all the way through. The ratio means that the distance which the acid has to travel to diffuse into the cube is smaller than the larger ration cubes.
  5.  Our cells use their surface area to volume ratios to exchange gases by allowing new gases to flow into the cell and quickly dispersing the gas that is no longer required. The smal ratio allows for gases to pass through very quickly through diffusion.
  6. Cells like bacteria need to stay small because they would have a much larger energy demand for their functions. The bacteria would not be able to function is it because big.
  7. Large multicellular organisms have a great advantage because they can grow in size zince their cells can duplicate. Their cells are intaking a lot of nutrients and there are a lot of cells that are able to take in nutrients to facilitate growth and cell division.
