Europe’s Contact and Settlement.

The Europeans have came over to the First Nations land and have made contact and settled in. Although Europe’s contact and settlement positively impacted the First Nations in some ways, there were too many negatives therefore the Europeans contact and settlement negatively impacted the First Nations.

Europe has made some positive impacts on the First Nations. They provided them with guns so they can have an advantage in a fight over there opponent and can use it for easier hunting. They also attempted to civilize the First Nations and convert them to Catholics. This is showing them a new religion and new ways to see in life. The First Nations are also lucky to have the Europeans supplying them with goods made out of iron, such as tools and cooking utensils. That was giving them ways to do things they already had to do faster, such as cooking. The Europeans and First Nations also created an alliance for wars to be able to out number there opposition for the upper hand. There had been a disease going around called scurvy so they had created a medicine for it that was able to help it so less people would die from the disease. Both the Europeans and First Nations created a group called the Metis. It started up a new culture and made the two get along with each other. Europe should be recognized for the positive impacts that they made with the First Nations.

Europe’s contact and settlement has also negatively impacted the First Nations. They had supplied the First Nations with both guns and alcohol which can be a good thing. The only problem is that not everyone had got guns so it was unfair. They would also be wasting valuables that they could’ve traded for something productive, but instead they got it for alcohol. Alcohol would just get them drunk and not be able to work. While the European’s were trying to “civilize” the First Nations and make them Catholics, they were not being reasonable. They were basically forcing them into believing what they believed in and would not give them a choice even if what they’re forcing them into is out of there comfort zone. They also supplied the First Nations with the tools and cooking utensils which is a good thing. The only bad part about it is that they were having to trade for the items, so they were not free. The solution they had when they could not agree over something was to have a war between each other so people were being killed when they were supposed to be fighting wars with each other, not against each other. There were also plenty of people that were getting a disease called scurvy from being on the boats and coming over which many people had died from. Also the French had just came in and took over the land without even paying the First Nations. The Europeans settlement was very negative and could’ve been a lot better.

To sum it all up there would be too many negatives between the First Nations and Europeans to say that there settlement positively impacted the First Nations. Although Europe’s contact and settlement positively impacted the First Nations in some ways, there were too many negatives therefore the Europeans contact and settlement negatively impacted the First Nations. If only the Europeans could have been a little bit smarter on there decisions to make it a successful impact.

Christopher Columbus Essay

Christopher Columbus was an explorer for Spain who was born in Italy. He tried to sail to Asia but ended up in North America. Although Christopher Columbus was an accomplished explorer, he should not be remembered as a great historical figure for his brutal actions.

Christopher Columbus has made lots of great discoveries and has gotten himself a “big name”. There have been lots of places all over the world named after him such as British Columbia which is a Canadian province (Document 1,4). He is a national symbol with a holiday named in his favour. The holiday is called Columbus Day (Document 1,5). Columbus is a determined man who does not give up on his dreams. He wanted to sail west from Europe and no European had ever dare to go there before and he didn’t even have the money to do so (Document 2,5). He was able to successfully persuade the king and queen of Spain to found his vogues to the new world which isn’t the easiest thing to do (Document 1,5). Columbus was a great negotiator, he was able to negotiate 10% from the King and Queen of Spain to search for new lands, gold, and spices. No other explorer was ever able to negotiate so well (5). Christopher Columbus has made lots of great accomplishments for himself that everyone should recognize and accomplish him for.

Although Christopher Columbus has made lots of big accomplishments, he has also made plenty of mistakes. Columbus is credited for knowledge that is already known such as the world is circular (Document 1,2). Stories of his accomplishments are largely, if not fully false (Document 1). Columbus forced people to switch religions to his liking because he was deeply religious Christian (Document 2). Columbus spread European diseases and killed the native people (Document 2). Columbus was greedy, he stole the reward of a famous explorer who saw the land first and demanded the king to give 10% of their wealth to Spain (Document 3). Columbus was a lazy liar he knew the length from Spain to India was but instead he went to the closet island and called them Indians (Document 3). Columbus was a mean leader to his people (Document 3). Columbus was a slave trader and took the people of Canada as slaves and traded them for goods and such (Document 3,4). Columbus was cruel and asked the native people to give him a handful of gold, those who could not satisfy got their hands cut off (Document 3). By seeing all of these things that he has done wrong I would hope that you agree with me, that he is not a great historical figure.

Christopher Columbus is a controversial explorer. Although Christopher Columbus was an accomplished explorer, he should not be remembered as a great historical figure for his brutal actions. Even though Columbus has made some good decisions, he has made too many bad ones, therefore he should not be remembered as a great historical figure!

Versailles Paragraph

If the 3rd estate had seen this house then they would’ve been shocked and mad about how much money it would’ve costed to make the house when you don’t even need the thing to be so  big. They are extremely frustrated because the king could’ve made it a lot smaller and saved a lot of money and with that money that they could’ve saved they could’ve gave it to the 3rd estate so there wasn’t as much poverty going on. They were also very confused on why they were having to pay so much tax when basically all of it is going to the king to live an extravagant life style when it’s not benefiting the people. They were also wondering why they had to give 10% of the income to the church when they are seeing how much money the king had. They were also very curios on why they had to work on the lords property’s and kings projects for free when they see that they have money that they are able to pay them. The city workers were frustrated and confused on why they weren’t getting more money because they see that the king has enough but he is using in out himself and his wife when he could help them and make sure they don’t live in poor conditions that are cramped and dirty because the city workers are working for the city.
