Rube Goldberg

The Katila Machine

By: Camilla Mancia and Katie Mclean

Energy Transfers:

  • Kinetic Energy is when the marble is traveling in motion
  • Potential Energy when it starts at the begging when the ball is about to be dropped
  • Sound Energy when the balloon pops

Camilla:

In our project we start at the top the marble drops into a tube which then falls on cups that we had cut outin half, then at the end of the cups it will fall onto a cardboard ramp which the small marble will end up hitting a medium sized one and the medium sized one will hit the big marble that we have and that big marble will go down the ramp to hit a sharp edge that when the marble hits the board that has the sharp edge to it will pop the balloon and the balloon and the marble will knock down the dominos which will touch the back of the mouse trap and set off the mouse trap and squeeze the toothpaste onto the toothbrush.

Katie:

In our Rube Goldberg machine our main goal is to put toothpaste on a toothbrush, first we drop the ball and will roll on to the cups and when the marble is done on the cups it rĀ olled right into a hole as that marble is in the hole the other ball will role right into a edge and falls onto a platform and that platform will fall letting the nettle attached to it pop the balloon creating are to knock down the dominoes setting off the mouse trap closing on the toothpaste squeezes get the toothpaste on the toothbrush
