To Kill A Mockingbird Blog Post

Racism is one of the biggest issues in the world and even though people have tried to get rid of racism, it still exists in the world. There have been lots of wars and people fighting against each other to eradicate racism. For example, there was the American Civil War, where the Sourthern slave states fought against the Northern states. The North won against the South, and the black slaves were freed. Another example is the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, which originated in the African-American community. The BLM campaigns against violence and racism towards black people. The BLM regularly holds protests against police killings of black people. Although people have changed and become more accepting, there are still parts of the world where racism exists. For instance, in 2012, Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old African-American, was fatally shot. One of the people in the neighborhood where the incident had happened thought that he was suspicious and was trying to steal from the neighborhood, because he was black. Also, in 1991, Rodney King who was a taxi driver was caught speeding while he was driving and tried to run away from the police. After driving 13km, he got caught and got beat by the police because he was black and the police thought that he had a weapon and did drugs. Even though there are less racism, there are places where racism still exists today.
