Introduction

Welcome to our Health Unit in PE 10 This a very important portion of the grade 10 curriculum that will give you the opportunity to think about your health and what it means to be healthy. It will also provide you with information about factors that can positively and negatively impact your health, and various health related skills for you to apply everyday.  Often there are sensitive topics and conversations that may come up. Our goal is that everyone can feel comfortable  to share their thoughts and ideas using the following guidelines.

Guidelines

  • No names (Do not use real names)
  • Participate (Do your best to contribute and share
  • Right to pass (If you feel uncomfortable with a topic, you always have the right to pass)

Activity #3 – My Personal Health and Wellness Plan

Strategy – Reflect

Take a moment to begin looking at all of the responses and answers you have collected and discovered over the past several units. Organize them, add more detail and thought, and make changes to areas where you may have a different opinion or insight. Your Personal Health and Wellness Plan is a growing and evolving document. Responses you may have created in grade 9, may be different then the ones you have today. That is okay! Go through the document and make changes, and take reflect back on all of the different topics that have been covered.  Your plan should be a clear reflection on what your life should look like in order for you to be your healthiest you – physically, emotionally and relationally.  Your Personal Health and Wellness Plan will contain responses from Unit 1 – Coping Skills, Unit 2 – Addictive Behaviors, and Unit 3 – Physical Health.

Your Personal Wellness Plan Should have submissions:

  1.  Unit 3 Lesson #1 – Take a look at the daily lifestyle tracker, what did you learn about your eating, sleeping and exercise habits? What are some things I can do to improve my eating, sleeping and exercise habits?
  2. Unit 3 Lesson #2 – With regards to sexual health, how do you plan to be emotionally and physically healthy?
  3. Unit 3 Lesson #3 – How Do Your Choices About Contraceptives Help You Live Safely?
  4. Unit 3 Lesson #4 – Core Competency Reflection | How has your understanding of Personal Awareness and Responsibility changed over the course of this unit? What have you learned about yourself?

People who are personally aware and responsible demonstrate self-respect, persevere in difficult situations, and exercise responsibility.
