What is DNA?

deoxyribonucleic acid is a two-stranded molecule that appears twisted, giving it a unique shape. There are two strands, made up of a phosphate molecule and a sugar molecule called deoxyribose, containing five carbons and a nitrogen-containing region. It is a self-replicating material that is presented in nearly all living organisms. It is the carrier of genetic information. it’s the distinctive characteristics or qualities of someone. it builds up your blood and all your insides of who you are. DNA is a complex molecule that contains all of the information necessary to build and maintain an organism. All living things have DNA within their cells.

What does DNA do?

DNA contains all the necessary materials needed for an organism to develop, survive and reproduce. The sequence of the bases, A, C, G, and T, in DNA, determines our unique genetic code and provides the instructions for producing molecules in the body. they must be converted into proteins that are the complex molecules that do most of the work in our bodies.

How does DNA copy itself?

in late interphase, DNA copies itself in the process of replication, it involves several steps. The DNA molecule unwinds then separates with the help of an enzyme. New bases pair with the bases on the original DNA. Then two new identical DNA molecules are produced. At the end of the interphase, the cell continues to grow and make proteins in preparation for mitosis.
