Netflix was created by Reed Hastings and Marc Rudolph on August 29th, 1997, Scotts Valley, California. Netflix is now one of the grandest movie and television show streaming services on the planet with over 145 million users, according to BroadbandSearch “Back in 2013, it just had 35 million subscribers”. Netflix makes money off people subscribing to their service, they make billions per year according to Statista, “Netflix generated total revenue of over 7.3 billion U.S. dollars”. (Stoll). Netflix was created to appeal to all ages, ranging from shows like Coco Melon to Breaking Bad. Netflix has different movies and television shows depending on your location such as in Japan you will receive more Japanese directed and produced content. The content changes all the time, there are new films and shows being added to stay up to date with the latest releases.

An interesting fact from Netflix is that 70% of users binge watch and 23% of users consume their media daily. According to BroadBandSearch “Someone watched Madagascar 3, 352 times in 2017”. (2021), that just shows how devoted some of the users of Netflix are to watching their favourite movies.
