In the 1800s women were not treated as equally as they are now. They have come very far from then. In the 1800s women had to do what the man of the house said, If the man said they were moving the women would have to pack up and get ready to leave without complaining.  Now women can change the mind of the man because the equality is more equal.  back then women had to tend to the house and farm, they had to make clothes and bread/food.  Now most women still do that but some are the voice of the house and have jobs that only a man would have in the 1800s
