In week 8 I learnt how to multiply polynomials by a monomial 
In this photo you would start with the equation giving and in this case its 1x(1x+2) which you then draw out as seen in the photo above then you would get a big square which would be 1x squared and then times the 1x to the the positive 2 and would get a long positive rectangle that would give you 2x
