Recently I have studied about nuclear energy and if it is a good alternative to fossil fuels. Most of this will be as if it would be written as a letter to Justin Trudeau (Canada’s current Prime Minister) to get him to start Nuclear energy Projects for Canada.

Dear Justin Trudeau
I am William Fenyo from Riverside Secondary School from British Colombia and I am here to tell you about nuclear energy and why we should replace fossil fuels with nuclear energy.
Energy Efficiency:
Nuclear energy is way more efficient than any form of fossil fuel power generation at the moment 20 grams of uranium can produce the same power as : 400 kilograms of coal, 350 cubic meters of natural gas, and 410 Liters of Oil. This is possible due to nuclear fission and its power production capabilities.
Carbon Emissions:
Nuclear power does not directly produce carbon emissions as it is not reliant on fossil fuels but it does produce carbon emissions indirectly as fossil fuels are needed for mining, transportation and, refining of uranium ores all require fossil fuels. These issues can be fixed by implementing more electric Vehicles and methods for these processes.
Other Emissions:
Even though nuclear power does not produce carbon emissions directly it does produce radioactive waste, radioactive waste is easier to contain then carbon dioxide as it usually comes in solid form instead of a gas. Radioactive waste can be stored in Isolated underground structures and this can prevent radioactive waste from seeping into our Environments and from causing too much harm to everything around it.
Costs:
Nuclear fuel is not expensive but there is a catch to this as you need to deal with the nuclear waste, the refining and mining of uranium and operational costs. Nuclear power plants can be expensive to build as they are massive structures but the price to pay is a good one if its to protect our planet.
Nuclear Accidents:
Nuclear accidents don’t happen very often but if one does happen results can be catastrophic as a large amount of radioactive particles seep into air and the water, this can cause cancer for thousands of people and can depopulate entire cities. Even though this may seem scary there are many safeguards put in place to prevent Accidents like Chernobyl from happening again like large protective structures around reactors. The risk of a nuclear disaster can be stopped with more research and engineering.
Conclusion:
Nuclear power is a great alternative to fossil fuels and we can continue to research in better nuclear technology which put out more power, produce less Radioactive waste and are more safer than any reactor we currently have. Nuclear power is a great option for going towards the future and for our goal for a more greener planet.

Sources and why I trust them:
Many of the sources I chose were Either .Org or .Gov
.Org means that its educational and is promoted by the government.
.Gov is a site put our directly by the government.
There was a site that was .Ca
This site seemed legitimate as the site is about the Canadian nuclear association and it has just turned 60, It also seems to have no advertisements so its not just a site looking to make a quick buck either.
