Censorship

For my visual component of the Fahrenheit 451 essay, I made a digital collage to represent the censorship portrayed in the book and our current society. Many disasters and world issues are behind the man in the middle, symbolizing how much censorship conceals and hides the truth from people. The environment, poverty, societal issues are shown. The three main people in black and white in the centre of the photo represents the society, blinded by technology, and muted, only told to consume and constantly distracted by the media. Excessive distraction keeps us away from reality and eventually results in shallow and intellectually-bland mankind. This visualizes the effect and result of censorship, how absent-minded society in both Fahrenheit 451 and our world can be. The consequences of censorship, to conceal the truth, to avoid issues and over-consume is relevant right now in the culture of mankind.
