While writing the adapted screenplay, my first goal was to capture the most important aspects of the story without it being too much information. Although, I did write more than I anticipated (850 words). Although the style of writing did not change (it stayed as narrative writing), I was able to add a lot to the story in screenplay form, through facial expressions, and the thoughts of the characters. While changing the story into screenplay form, some of the biggest changes I had to make were adding facial expressions and adding mental attributes to characters. I had to use multiple slug lines to identify the change in scene, the only issue I had with this was identifying when it was appropriate to use one. I took advantage of the parentheses as it allowed me to add depth to the pre-existing characters, I did this so the reader could visualize each character’s true feelings at each point in time. Action lines were useful to me as I could point out important physical actions without dialogue or parentheses. Although it took me a while to complete, I enjoyed writing the screenplay, and I found it easy to just sit down and write, rather than taking various breaks throughout the creation of the assignment.
