This propaganda is an Ideology of Kuno, and a message to get out of under the ground and being controlled by the machines, to up to the surface, where there are experiences, and lives to be lived. I decided to show a mix of 2 messages, one message about getting out of the ground and escaping the grasp of the machine, and another message telling people to come to the surface and showing how nice and bright the grass and sky are. The machine controlling everything at set time, is depicted as a machine monster, who wants to control all people and keeping everyone locked in its grasp making sure everyone is doing the same, no memories or ideas for people to have. With glowing red eyes and a wide monster mouth ready to eat the lives and experiences of the people stuck under the machines spell. The earth’s surface is shown as a open grass field with a bright, open blue sky, giving the viewer ideas of all the activities able to be done in a wide open field. With a blimp in the sky, showing there can be relations with the current transport for cross country, attempting to show that it is safe on the surface and there is no need to fear what the machine says. The writing reads, “there are life for everyone, don’t let it control you” indicating that there is life on the surface and more than we can see if we just explore a bit, and that the machine wants all control and manpower for itself, not what’s best for humanity. The intent of this poster is to pull people to the surface, and in the long run create a civilization on the surface out of the ground so that the machine isn’t in control of everyone, and people can do more than feed the machine and be brainwashed by everything their told. Showing a solid line between the depths of the machine’s power and the shine of the sun reflecting of the grass on the surface. This is along with all Kuno’s wants of not wanting to be with the machine and wanting to live free on the surface running around exploring the world. He wants people to think differently and to have their own ideas make their own choices and go learn stuff on their own, so they really know what life is like.

Machine stops – life in a machines hands
EM foster’s Machine Stops is based in a time where the world is uninhabited and where people all are separated from each other in hexagonal rooms, with all their life relying on a machine. Two characters are followed throughout the story, Kuno, and Vashti, Kuno’s mother. These two have very different views of the dystopian society they live in, Kuno believes there is life outside and wants to go explore the surface and everything that earth has to offer. Vashti loves the machine and everything the machine has to offer; her entire world revolves around the machine. She is extremely loyal to the machine and would choose the machine over anything else. This type of connection with machines is similarly depicted in Yuval Noah Harai’s Humans are on the verge of merging with machines. There is extreme isolation in the society of machine stops, nobody is allowed out of their room, they have no vents or windows to outside, they are all locked in the same rooms controlled by the same machine. “But I want to see you not through the machine… I want to speak to you not through some wearisome machine” pg. 2 showing the true isolation with almost no contact with people outside of your room, unless it is through the machine, meaning it is all monitored. this may be an outcome of the future believed to be the future in Harai’s eyes, describing that everyone will have their own virtual reality where they will spend most of their time, pulling people away from real people and with touch from reality and they are focused on the virtual fantasy reality instead of facing the real world. This may not be overall a bad thing if it is used correctly, but people will put too much time into the virtual reality and becoming one with a machine, they will realize the control they lost, and how the new machine that is joined with them has full control over everything in their body. This will put the creators of robotic implants very powerful, with control over the population and majority of people putting too much trust and care into devices, reality fades away from their view. But these are not looked upon in Harai’s story, it is looked at as a step into the future, bringing man, and machine into one to effectively help people. This would be able to give people google level intelligence with one implant, this is a benefit, this may cut a lot of time solve many problems and will ensure there are almost zero human error. Brett Frischmann, looks at this negatively in his write, Free will under threat. “We follow scripts written, and paths, set by platform designers…. We outsource thinking of all sorts, I mean route planning, who to date, what to say, what to think, what to believe.” Says Frischmann, with this control, the machine would be able to depict itself as a god in the brain of the user. This relates to the machine being referenced as having a relation to god as in Machine stops, “you talk as if god had made the machine” pg. 2. This gives the machine a lot of power and would let it rule the world, having all people working under the control of a machine and the developers of said machine. Overall, a step into merging with technology is a step into the future and can lead to many great things happening and may solve many of the worlds problems, but all at the risk to give up full control of our own bodies, to a computer.
