Population Pyramids for China

So, this population chart and population pyramid is for China. As we can see from the population pyramid, the birth rates of China have a slightly increase recently, while the death rates have a mineral decline. With the comparison of both sides of the population pyramid, the numbers of female and male are mostly balanced in all the age groups. Also, there is a large amount of population in the suitable workers’ age group. Accordingly, China now is on the stage 4, with two convex sides on the population pyramid, it’s a contracting population pyramid, where peoples have longer life expectancy with low birth rate and low death rate.

Currently, the family planning for China is known as “one child policy”, but now they just carried out a new “Second child “policy, which allows the family with both parents are the only child in their own family, able to have the second child. Which make sense to increase the birth rates and have the birth rate slightly increase instead of a huge jump to a extreme rate. Also, China need to focus more on the construction of the facility for the heal care as more people are turning older, there is a growing possibility of people get serious illness that need the beds in the health care facilities. Also, China need to be aware of the incoming middle age population, creating more job chance for these population and make the relevant public business focus on those peoples.

  1. You might have to look closely to see the balance of genders. For most cohorts under 40, there are fewer women/girls. That coincides almost perfectly with the One Child Policy and even China is now worried that this might be a problem with sustaining future populations/economy.
The overall shape is a contracting pyramid but it does look like the number of births is on the increase again.
The big concern for China is the aging population that will require more social services and a lack of a workforce to pay for that. That’s exactly why they recently loosened the One Child Policy to a Two Child Policy.

    Good job!
