Yelp comment: It is a restaurant worth going, cost less than ten bucks to fill your stomach.
The feeling of home
‘Legend Fish Cafe’ is a restaurant nearby Coquitlam Center. The restaurant was so small that was hard to be noticed, but it’s inner, covered numeral styles of food and remind me the life I was living in China.
As the last September is my first month studying abroad, here, in Coquitlam, I feel like everything was new to me so I haven’t concerned about the food at that time. Though, one month later, the feeling of missing home’s food start coming to my mind. I got my friends with me and we tried all the Chinese food restaurant throughout the Coquitlam. It was a little bit disappointing when I found out most of them are kinds of mix style of both the Chinese food and the Western food. However, I did find a restaurant which offers Hong kong style noodle soup with numerous options of toppings. The restaurant was actually very small comparing to other Chinese food restaurant we found. It was at noon so all the seats were full already and because the foyer of the restaurant is very small with a big line-up, we have to wait outside until the waiter called us in. It was a bit annoying but the weather that day is not that bad so we just chatted there and wait for the waiter. Less than twenty minutes, we got our seats and the waiter leads us to our seat.
I was surprised once I saw the price on the menu. Can you believe you can get a bowl of soup with all kinds of fine things inside like fishes and mushrooms, 2 additional toppings you want to add into the soup plus any kinds of noodles on the list and either a cup of Hong Kong style milk tea or a cup of coffee within ten bucks? It actually happened in ‘Legend Fish Cafe’. I chose the soup and all kinds of things. The waiter collect the menus and what we can do is wait. With looked around the restaurant, the atmosphere it created mostly appears in southern part of China which is not the area I lived, regardless, it did build that kind of feeling that I am not far away from my home. With all of these things in mind, the noodles soup was ready. Once it was placed on the table, the flavourful smell dashed my mind, even make me feel I was sublimed. And with the fish soup, it looks a little buttery but tastes not mushy. The Specialty pork sausage and the beef tendon I added were well-placed, it looks like an artwork. I only ordered ramen so far and it tasted nice, one problem is that every time I have to mix the ramen and soup to make noodles taste better which is doesn’t matter that much.
For me, it’s a fine place to go for many times as it doesn’t cost a lot and it can fill my hungry stomach, the most important point it can make me feel I am not that far away from home.
