Connection-Dominican Republic / New Brunswick
1-Media
a) The Skype experience was not what I expected. Most of the kids we were all talking to in New Brunswick didn’t talk or show much emotion. But in my class people were going up proposing our questions and ideas. Most of the students didn’t respond when we would ask them. Mr. Fogarty on the other hand. He did give us great answers to our questions and good support on our ideas. From our Skype chat and what he taught us, I think my class and our groups can do a lot to raise awareness.
c) For this project I think we will need good communication, Group effort and We need to be open to all oppertunites.
2-A summary of what you learned so far
a) We talked to Mr. Fogarty’s Class. They are located in New Brunswick Canada.
b) I think the fact that they are doing the same project as us is pretty cool. It was also cool when some of the questions we asked would just go in one ear and out the other with all the grade 12’s in Mr. Fogarty’s class.
c) I felt kinda nervous with the Skype chat. I didn’t know what they would say. I wish we could interact with the students better because all they did was sit there, I don’t even think they were paying attention. They were silent threw out the entire Skype call.
3-What are your groups plan
a) Me and my group are planning to spread awareness and start a fundraiser for the Dominican Republic. We want to start working with the Rapid change group also.
b)So far we have all our ideas planned out. We have a good understanding of what were doing and how.
c)Were looking for the Rapid change group to help us start a fundraiser and make posters and start spreading awareness around Port Coquitlam about Engineering Brightness.
