Monday- Write your essay

  1. Have your outline on the desk and your devices charged with your research ready
  2. Introduction- hook, background information (Canada is a constitutional democracy and some background on your topic) and thesis
  3. Body paragraphs: follow the order of the outline. You have a choice of paraphrasing your evidence from the source OR directly quoting. At this point, we  ask only that you put your quote within quotation marks and we will not assess the other punctuation rules THIS TIME 🙂
  4. Bibliography: I will show you how to insert this information into your document in the last 15 minutes of class. Be sure to have your research handy.
  5. You are to finish this essay at home. It is due on Wednesday!!!

Friday- homework for Monday

  1. Do the research for your persuasive essay
  2. Fill in your outline and bring on Monday
  3. Remember to record your sources or have them bookmarked on your computer
  4. Write your thesis statement:
  5. We will be writing IN-CLASS on Monday. There is no time to do research.
  6. On Monday, I will teach you how to integrate your evidence into a paragraph AND how to format your resources
  7. Essay is due Tuesday, Oct. 1st

Tuesday- corrections, No Red Ink, Photovoice

Spelling and test corrections to do with a partner: Pathways – test corrections


  • On a word document, post your photo and then in three paragraphs , answer the following questions:
    • P#1 –Personal
    • The issue you are addressing
    • How this image is your “photovoice”
    • Your thinking behind the composition
    • How others may perceive your image
    • What we (society) can do to improve this issue or strengthen our lives
    • P #2-
    • Reflect on what you have learned about visual literacy
    • How can you be critical of images in the news and in life?
    • Conclusion-
    • A call to action: What do you want people to see in our community and what do you want the government to do?
