Science 10 Rube Goldberg

Rube Goldberg

Partners: Danyal, Spencer, Anthony.

Due date Tues 25 April

Our objective was to pop the balloon.

  1. the rube Goldberg starts with a person pushing down with gravitational energy a lever
  2. Lever spins and hits a car (also mechanical energy)
  3. car goes down inclined plane and stops because of (magnetic pull) and hits ball
  4. ball goes down cone and hits dominos
  5. dominos gets pushed making the energy transferred
  6. dominos hits another car and moves it with the energy
  7. car goes on another inclined plane and goes down it\

8.hits a light on the top of the car and pops a balloon producing (sound and

The energy we have in here are:

  1. Gravitational energy
  2. Mechanical energy
  3. Sound energy
  4. Elastic energy
  5. Magnetic energy

The transfers: Using the hand to push the lever and hit the car to move on to the incline plane goes down (Mechanical energy) hits the ball and gets stuck on magnetic energy due to another magnet being under the incline plane (Magnetic energy) pushes it down into a funnel (gravitational energy) Hits the dominos (a transfer of energy through the dominos) to push another car on another incline plane to pop the balloon (elastic and sound energy).

Gravitational Potential Energy: 9.8m/s x 0.66m x 0.17046kg= 1.1 J

Final Kinetic Energy:2^3.596665122026236×0.17046kg/2= 1.1 J,

Eg=1.10253528

Ek=1.10493732

0.007 Jules is lost because of the friction of the carboard and glue and when it stops and transfers between steps energy is lost. Energy is also lost when the balloon pops creating sound and heat.
